The hand that healed

I was distraught, i was in pain,
I was spiralling down into the darkness,
Then a hand touched mine,
Touched and pressed and held in calm comfort.

Light streamed in, my pains were gone
Light seeped in, darkness no more.
Heart was filled and soul nourished,
And i felt light as a cloud.

Then i saw the hand that healed.
It was thinner than mine,
More wearied and shivering,
And the wounds from nails still left its scars.

I gave my hands into those,
But into those eyes i never dare look,
For I knew,
It held more pain than mine.
